The eMachines ET1831-07 is currently one of the latest desktop models from the company. It comes with a variety of high-end specs but yet, managed to maintain an entry-level price tag. Desktops with similar specs are usually much more expensive than this. eMachines has taken the term ‘stretching the dollar’ to a whole new level.
For starters the eMachines ET1831-07 has a powerful 2.7Ghz dual-core processor. It also comes with a huge 750GB had drive and 4GB of RAM. Then there is the powerful NIVIDA GeForce 7050 graphics card. Other notable features include a memory card reader, 7.1 channel audio support, 16x DVD optical drive, 6 USB ports, a VGA output and an Ethernet port. This model may not come with may ‘extra’ features (such as Bluetooth, wi-fi connectivity, etc) but these features can be easily incorporated by getting some very inexpensive gadgets and adapters.
In terms of design, the eMachines ET1831-07 is mainly black in color and sports a tower style design. It measures at 14.2 x 7.1 x 16.2-inches and weighs in at 18 pounds. It ships with a mouse and keyboard. This model comes with the Windows 7 Home Premium (64 bit). Thanks to the powerful processor, ample RAM and the great NVIDIA graphics card, this desktop model is well suited for handling a variety of heavy computing tasks. Whether it is for serious work or play, the eMachines ET1831-07 will be able to get the job done seamlessly. The highlight of this powerful desktop model would have to be its modest price tag. At the moment, this model is priced at around $389 per unit, which is about the same price as a netbook!
